NMCA Issues Letter to HISD on Wharton

Urges Community Input NMCA this week sent a letter to HISD Superintendent Abe Saavedra and Board  Trustees opposing the closure of Wharton Elementary, demolition of the historic school and sale of the property. The letter was in response to Wharton being placed on HISD's disposition list due to the school's small enrollment. The school will stay open for the 2008-2009 school year, but is expected to close thereafter. Click here to read a copy of the letter.

The North Montrose Civic Association was formed over 25 years ago to promote civic affairs in the neighborhood.  NMCA is a non-profit organization that depends on voluntary membership and participation.   Our borders are north/south between Allen Parkway and W. Gray/Peden and east/west between Shepherd and Taft.
