NMCA Issues Letter to HISD on Wharton

 Urges Community Input

NMCA this week sent a letter to HISD Superintendent Abe Saavedra and Board Wharton Elementary Trustees opposing the closure of Wharton Elementary, demolition of the historic school and sale of the property.

The letter was in response to Wharton being placed on HISD's disposition list due to the school's small enrollment.

The school will stay open for the 2008-2009 school year, but is expected to close thereafter.
